CTO For Hire was engaged by an established FinTech SMB to provide executive level leadership to its product & delivery teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The business had (at peak) approximately 15 technical staff delivering multiple product lines to SMB customers across southeast asia.
During the fixed term engagement, CTO For Hire:
- Worked closely with board, executive & key advisors to establish a strategic product roadmap with a realistic delivery plan to achieve outcomes.
- Established technical integrations & partnerships with telecommunication & banking partners in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. These partnerships resulted in a measurable lift to bottom line revenue across all product suites.
- Achieved key regulatory compliance milestones in several key markets.
- Standardised technical hiring processes to ensure team growth was consistent and sustainable.
- Implemented full learning & development plans for all team members, including re-skilling and new career opportunities for several team members.
- Coached product teams on LEAN delivery practices, drastically influencing improvements in collaboration culture between teams.
- Managed external agency budgets and delivery for strategic projects.
At the conclusion of the engagement:
- Delivery teams were producing customer-ready features in a regular, reliably delivery cadence.
- New mobile solution was delivered on-time, on-budget and being piloted with customers.
- Technical POC’s were developed for new cloud services, directly addressing product gaps with legacy desktop applications.
Both executive and board noted that delivery culture had drastically improved during the engagement. At 3 and 6 months post-engagement the board further observed that the development teams had continued the quality and delivery practices set in place by CTO For Hire.
